Handmade in the J. Augur studio from reclaimed vintage textiles and canvas, the Peace Flag reinterprets a universal symbol of hope and unity in material form.  Each flag requires more than 40 hours of cutting, stitching, and finishing — a slow, deliberate process honoring its historical roots.

Brief History of the Peace Symbol:
The modern peace symbol — a circle with three interior lines — was designed in 1958 by British artist Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). The design combines the semaphore signals for N (nuclear) and D (disarmament), encircled to represent the world.

It quickly became an emblem of anti-war movements, adopted during the 1960s by civil rights and peace activists worldwide. Over time, it evolved beyond its original protest roots to stand universally for hope, unity, and nonviolence — a visual shorthand for the enduring human wish to live without conflict.
